Calculators are essential tools for numerical problem solving. Through Otto's retro design, I aimed to create a visually appealing device that enhances user enjoyment. By greeting users with a friendly emoji upon activation, Otto transforms from a simple tool into an engaging and pleasant companion.

With a friendly and approachable surface, Otto creates a bright atmosphere in the world of calculators. When turned on, the device greets the user with an emoji face, personifying the calculator. Its rounded buttons give a retro yet analytical feel.

DISASSEMBLY To inform the redesign, a scientific calculator was disassembled to analyze its internal mechanisms.
ROUGH CAD
 Using Rhino, I developed a 3D model to further analyze the calculator’s shape.
